mindbodygreen founder Jason Wachob redefines successful living and offers readers a new life currency to build on, one that is steeped in wellbeing…Wellth.

“Many of us aren’t satisfied with just trying to accumulate the most money and toys. The good life is no longer just about the material—instead, it can be found in a lifestyle that is devoted to mental, physical, and emotional health. A wellthy existence is one in which happiness is attainable, health is paramount, and daily living is about abundance. It’s a life in which work is purposeful; friendships are deep and plentiful; and there’s a daily sense of richness or overflowing joy. But since there’s no one-size-fits all definition for a wellthy existence, I hope this book will serve as a guide to help you embark on your own personal journey that is both unique and meaningful.”

Eat. Move. Work. Believe. Explore. Breathe. Connect. Love. Heal. Thank. Ground. Live. Laugh.

These are the building blocks of Wellth…and in this blend of memoir and prescriptive advice Jason Wachob shows us all how to enjoy truly ‘wellthy’ lives—lives that are deeply rich in every conceivable way.  Through his experience and personal story, as well as in exclusive material from popular expert contributors (including Dr. Frank Lipman, Dr. Lissa Rankin, Joe Cross, Charlie Knoles, Kathryn Budig, Dr. Aviva Romm, and Dr. Sue Johnson), we learn how we too can embrace this new movement and develop richer, fuller, happier, healthier, and more meaningful lives.

Author and narrator Jason Wachob gives a strong and straightforward performance that stresses the importance of what he calls a "wellthy" lifestyle. For Wachob, wealth is about the quantity of one's money; "wellth," on the other hand, concerns a state of physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional abundance. Here, Wachob provides a handbook filled with actionable steps for those who want to discover a peaceful and purposeful way of living. While Wachob's narration is not highly modulated, his pacing and occasional chuckles and exclamations add liveliness to his encouraging anecdotes. His steady narration also creates a resonance that, at times, gives a meditative tone to the plethora of practical tips he offers to assist listeners on their journeys. Making an uninspired debut, Wachob explains how he went from hard-partying frat boy and successful trader to founder and CEO of the lifestyle brand Mindbodygreen. His goal, for himself and others, is wellth, an invented word based on the Middle English welthe, which he claims referred primarily to happiness and only secondarily to prosperity. Here, he serves up cursory advice on health, exercise, cultivating a career that aligns with one’s personal values, self-exploration, romantic relationships, and emotional stability. There’s nothing groundbreaking here—Wachob’s advice includes developing a practice of gratitude (“the phrase ‘thank you’ is even etched on our bedroom wall”), fostering a connection with nature, and laughing often. Much of his advice comes through the lens of his own experiences, so established fans of Mindbodygreen may find this a solid companion to the company’s Buzzfeed-like site, for which the book functions as an extended ad, but others are likely to find the cloying tone and tired advice unfulfilling.
